Emma Clunies-Ross

Emma Clunies-Ross

Emma Clunies-Ross is 21 and currently finishing a combined degree of Music Performance & Arts, majoring in Drama & English at the University of Newcastle. She has been singing classically since the age of 11, and has performed roles in numerous musicals in her hometown of Maitland, such as Yum Yum in The Hot Mikado (2004), Ado Annie in Oklahoma (2006) and Nellie in South Pacific (2007), and has performed in The True Phoenix (2007) and Oh! What a Lovely War (2008) with the University of Newcastle Drama department. In 2007 Emma won the Lions Club Stage & Screen Award at the Lake Macquarie Eisteddfod and was chosen as the soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria with the Conservatorium of Newcastle’s Choir and Wind Orchestra. In spite of having sung operatic arias during her music degree, tutored by Christopher Allan, this is Emma’s first opera, and her first production with NFO (and she is loving it!). Emma would like to thank her family and friends for all the support they have given her over the years and hopes that everyone enjoys the production as much as she has enjoyed performing in it!
