Jamie-Lee MacDonald, graduated from Port Macquarie finishing high school in 2007, started classical singing at the age of 10, with James Hannah, completing all AMEB singing exams by the age of 16. Jamie-Lee is currently studying music and is in second year as a singing performance major at the Newcastle Conservatorium being taught by Paul McMahon. While in school, she was in the chorus of Aladdin, started acting in 2004 taking a principal role in Talking Heads, and was the Baptist in the 2007 production of Godspell. She was head of small ensemble and large choir in school from 2005 to 2007, and was vice captain of the high school in 2007 as well as advisor for the music department. In 2008 Jamie-Lee performed in the chorus of Wonderful Town with Newcastle Festival Opera, and became a member of Newcastle University’s Chamber Choir, participating in the ‘Battle of the Choirs’ competition in which they won 1st prize, and recorded with the Choir. She is aspires to be a singer with Opera Australia. The Magic Flute is her debut in the opera industry and she is very happy to be a part of Newcastle Festival Opera.
