Joshua Salter is a graduate of The University of Newcastle Conservatorium holding a Bachelor of Music majoring in Vocal Performance. During his time at the Conservatorium, Joshua studied under the guidance of Christopher Allan. Having returned from London after studying with Guildhall School of Music and Drama vocal coach Kate Paterson, he is now under the tutelage of Raymond Connell. Joshua has gained experience on the concert platform giving recitals in song cycles by Finzi and Vaughn Williams, was baritone soloist in Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah’ for The Hastings Choristers, and was part of Opera Hunter’s production of Sweeney Todd. Joshua was also a member of the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir and toured the United Kingdom and France with the group in 2002, singing in such prestigious venues as Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Notre Dame in Paris. ‘The Speaker’ is Joshua’s first role for Newcastle Festival Opera.
